一、说明
《综合英语》是本专业的一门主干课程。学生应掌握英语词汇、语法、语音等语言知识，全面提高英语水平。考试的目的是测试考生综合运用语言的能力。重点则是词汇、句型、习惯表达法的掌握，同时还应了解英美两国的一些文化背景知识。
二、基本要求
1、能掌握运用约4500个以上的词汇；一定数量的常用词组；掌握600条左右的习惯用语，例如：
go into raptures，
do without，
make do with，
put in charge of，
be quite beyond me，
come into the possession of，
be tempted to 等。
掌握一定数量常用的同义词、反义词的新义和用法。例如：
tempt, lure, attract;
hardly, scarcely, barely;
collect, accumulate, amass;
feeling, emotion, passion, 等。
2、掌握各种基本句型。例如：
1) Subject+Verb (+Adv.)
2) Subject+Verb+ Subject Complement
3) Subject+Verb+ Object
4) Subject+Verb+Indirect Object+Direct Object
5) Subject+Verb+Object+Object Complement
6) There+Verb+Subject (+Adv.)
3、能用英语解释所学的词汇、句子及文章段落（paraphrase）例如：
1) deliberately: done on purpose，
2) as clear as daylight: perfectly clear ，
3) Those who never have to change house become indiscriminate collectors of what can only be described as clutter.
= Those who have a permanent home tend to collect all kinds of odds and ends which they leave about in drawers ,cupboards and attics in disorder.
4、能写约150个词的英语短文，要求句子通顺，内容充实，无重大语法错误。
